The Corey Project with GPE│VOLUNTEER HOUSE│CHDCambodia.org

On Sunday, July 24th Corey Goode, a former Global Peace Exchange director and friend, passed away in a tragic motorbike accident in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he was about to begin teaching at an international school. Corey was a free-spirit and natural leader. He has left a permanent imprint on his family members, friends, and students and he will always be remembered for his drive to make the world a better place.

All donations will be given to the Goode family. In 2015, Corey volunteered at a school in rural Cambodia called Children with Hope for Development. The Goode family will be traveling to Cambodia in the future and will be donating the money to the school.  All the funds will go towards a volunteer guesthouse in Corey’s honor.  Any kind of support helps and is appreciated.

The Corey Project is an international non-profit partnership formed in honor of Corey Goode. Corey found his passion for advocacy and education while working with children in Nepal, and then teaching in Cambodia at Children with Hope for Development (CHD). The Corey Project aims to inspire hope for children in developing countries.

Children with Hope for Development (CHD) is a grassroots Cambodian Non Governmental Organisation. It is based in Po Village, Takeo Province, Cambodia and is located approximately 94 kilometres from the capital city Phnom Penh. The village is in a poorly serviced remote, rural area with unmade roads. The children in the Po village come from poor rice cropping families and have limited prospects to assist them, break out of the cycle of poverty.

CHD plans to build a volunteer house on the school grounds in the future. Currently, volunteers have to travel 10 kilometers by bicycle from Takeo Town everyday to teach at CHD. The bike ride can be tiring, especially in hot months, and living so far from the school can make many volunteers feel detached from the community. A volunteer house would allow volunteers to be more involved in the community. Living in Po Village, volunteers could learn more about village culture, join in community events and ceremonies, make better relationships with members of the village, and conduct better research. A volunteer house would also help make CHD more sustainable, as it would be generating it’s own income, instead of relying on outside donations to pay for materials and teachers. Perhaps most importantly, a volunteer house would allow CHD to extend its mission of free education to other villages outside of Po, since volunteers would have less distance to travel to other villages and CHD’s increased income would allow it to pay for more teachers.

Please join us in making a difference. No amount is too small or big. A gift from the heart will go a long way in Cambodia. Thank you in advance!
